Care & safety
WARNING — To prevent fire and serious injury
- • Burn candle within sight.
- • Keep away from things that catch fire.
- • Keep away from children and pets.
Burning your candle
- Trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before every burn. A long wick smokes and leaves soot.
- The first burn sets the memory. Let the wax pool reach the edge, usually two to three hours.
- Never burn longer than four hours at a time.
- Stop burning when about 1/2 inch of wax is left in the vessel.
- Burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, curtains and anything that can catch.
Caring for your soap
- Keep the bar on a draining dish. Sitting in water is what makes handmade soap disappear early.
- Let it dry fully between uses and it will last noticeably longer.
- Store spare bars unwrapped somewhere dry. They keep curing and get harder.
Concrete pieces
- Concrete is porous. Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth, no soaking and no harsh cleaners.
- Gold leaf is applied by hand. Don't scrub it.
- For a vase holding fresh stems, use the glass insert. Water will stain raw concrete.
- Refill the candle vessels once they're empty. Warm water loosens the last of the wax.
